CURRICULUM DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to satisfy the CFP Board’s Financial Plan Development course requirement and to help the student to acquire the professional knowledge necessary to create and communicate effective financial plans to clients.

The course seeks to refine and develop the specific job skills needed for personal financial planners when working with individuals, families, and business owners in meeting financial needs and objectives. A secondary goal of the course is to reinforce knowledge obtained in the core financial planning courses for the 70 topics covered on the CFP Certification Examination.

This course will require the student to engage in critical thinking and decision-making skills about personal financial management topics in the context of the financial planning process in general and specifically in the analysis of case studies. Each student will finish the course with a short oral presentation of his or her analysis and recommendations of one component of a financial planning case.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This course is designed to be taken as the final required course in the Florida Atlantic University CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional Certification Program.

With more than 17 years of experience, Ben is an accomplished Insurance, Estate, & Financial Planning professional. Ben is A member of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Insurance Specialist Team. His key responsibility is to provide unbiased insurance and Estate planning solutions to the Firm’s clients.

Prior to joining Capitas, Ben served as the Managing Senior Sales Vice President for Highland Capital Brokerage, Inc. and was responsible for the creation and management of the Highland’s South Florida operations.

Ben is a proud alumni of Florida Atlantic University where he earned an MBA at the Graduate School of Business. Ben holds many key industry designations including Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and the Certified Financial Planner ® designation. Ben has been an adjunct Professor for Nova Southeastern University, Barry University, and currently is the Estate Planning and Insurance Planning instructor for Florida Atlantic University’s Certified Financial Planner ® designation program.
